Get your Chakras in Balance

Our bodies have sensitive areas that are the focal points of our emotions, feelings, intuition and insight. These energy points are called Chakras and are located on the mid-line of the body. There are seven of them, and they govern our psychological properties.

Ideally, all chakras would contribute to our being. Our instincts would work together with our feelings and promote clear thinking. However, this is usually not the case. Some chakras are not open enough being under-active, and to compensate, other chakras are over-active. The ideal state is where the chakras are balanced. To manage these universal concerns we must go inside ourselves. Among the steps we can take is the learning and practicing of meditation.  Meditation can be used to both discover whether we are in balance and to obtain balance.  “Centering” and “grounding” techniques should be used before beginning these meditations.  A grounding technique can be as simple as feeling your connection to the earth and being focused and present.  Centering usually requires your being relaxed.  Each chakra is also associated with a color and color therapy has proven to be a simple and effective way of balancing these energy centers in the body. The vibrational sound from specially tuned “singing bowls” is not only relaxing but also a way to keep the mind, body, spirit centered and in harmony.  Whatever method you use, take your time and achieve a deep state of relaxation. You may want to count slowly or visualize yourself walking through the forest, whatever it takes to become relaxed. Many of these techniques are offered at Life’s Journey Wellness Studio.
